Since 1996, Shun Tian LIU has been exploring the boundaries of stone sculpture in combination with steel cables, developing a distinctive sculptural language. For Liu, the cable symbolizes a transcendent “truth”—eternal, neither born nor extinguished, serving as an invisible guideline for thought and spirit. This axis of order is not only an artistic principle but also a path toward liberation amid life’s struggles. Between the weight of stone and the tension of steel, his works reveal a balance of material and spirit, visible and invisible, grounding sculpture in both physical resonance and metaphysical inquiry.
