黃妙貞以陶瓷為主要媒材,跨越工藝與當代藝術的界線,並結合金屬、玻璃等複合材質,探索質感與語境的可能。她的創作源於日常與社會互動,藉由材質特性展現人與人、人與環境間的張力與對話。近年結合「見山是山」的禪語,強調觀看的本質在於心境轉化:從凝視山水到映照內心,作品引導觀者在外在景象與內在意識之間往返,尋得自我的投射。同時,她亦積極參與公共藝術計畫,例如「馬祖國際藝術島」、「貧窮人的台北」、以及「三鶯藝術共創」等計畫,以地域性與社群性為作品注入更多層次。
Miao Chen Huang works primarily with ceramics, expanding its boundaries by combining metal, glass, and mixed media to explore form, texture, and context. Rooted in daily experience and social interaction, her works reveal the tensions and dialogues between people and their environments. In recent years, she has drawn on the Zen phrase “seeing a mountain as a mountain, not a mountain, and a mountain again,” highlighting how perception reflects shifts in the viewer’s state of mind. Her practice invites audiences to encounter landscapes as mirrors of the self. Beyond her studio, Huang also participates in public art projects, creating works that embody locality, community, and shared cultural resonance.
